In August, the children visited Sealife Centre in Brighton. The children got to see all different type of underwater animals. The children really enjoyed looking at the Jelly Fish, the sharks that swim around above us and the sting rays. The children were allowed to touch a star fish, once they touched a star fish, they went to a machine to collect the stamps in the Sea Life book We will definitely be visiting Sealife Centre again soon In July the children had a visit from Michael. The children took part in Basketball where they practiced dribbling and shooting. The children enjoyed basketball as it builds up their hand to eye co ordination. The next visit from Michael is in August where the children will be learning hockey. On Thursday 25th July 2019, the children got the 27 bus into town to visit Brighton Police. The children visited Brighton Police Station, wearing different police tops and jackets. The children stayed very hydrated by drinking lots of water and juice. But also getting their bodies and hair wet with water spray. The children handed over artwork to the police and some delicious treats. When we had snow and ice the children enjoyed experiencing it if it was there first time and playing in it. The children took it in turns to
use the sledge ( they decided who would sit in it as it only holds two at a time) and the rest one then pull them round the playground. The children experienced different textures of ice in the playground as they found it hard when the ice melted and it was on the tarmac. But they found it easy when the sledge was on the ice! We discussed what the ice felt like and if it was hard or soft. Parts of the playground was very slippery and the children enjoyed skating and trying to gain balance without falling on the ice. The children then spotted animal footprints that were left on the ice and the children then guessed what animal it could be. The next day we finally got proper snow. The children enjoyed sledging down hills on the sledge , looking at the creatures built in the snow and having snack in the snow for the first time ever. On Valentine’s Day the Nursery was given bouquets of flowers from Tesco Petrol Station in Hove. Because we got a lot of flowers the children helped to wrap the flowers up and hand them out to our friends at Maycroft Manor Care Home. The children enjoyed walking up and down the many corridors to hand the lovely roses out. After that the children enjoyed singing some nursery rhymes with the residents in the cafe. We would like to thank Tesco Petrol Station who donated the lovely flowers. But also Fare Share Food Cloud that made it happen . The children visited Maycroft Manor to collect conkers. The children looked up high and down low for the conkers, when they found the conkers the children went to put it in the bucket. The children also visited the Deneway to take a look at their conkers. Instead they saw a ambulance and waved to the paramedics, Once back at nursery the children played with the conkers in the playdough and one child said "a conker beach!" Over the past couple of weeks we have had Sussex Police out in the nursery for some advice with regards to the public playground and our gated playground. We would like to thank Sussex Police for their ongoing support and advice they have given us. When the officers came out the children made a big canvas of a police officer, The children chose what colour hair they wanted their version of a police officer to have, They then did rainbow handprints and stuck police stickers on the canvas. Once again we would like thank our local Police Officers and PCSO'S that came out, we appreciate what you do and you are our "super heroes!" Today the children visited i360 in Brighton and handed over the i360 junk modelling and a birthday book. After a visit on the i360 the children had snack on the beach!
We would like to say a massive thank you to the staff at the i360 for making our trip so much fun ! On the 4th July the children at the nursery were listening to the story of Mr. Jeremy Fisher by Beatrix Potter . Demita brought in something special from outside and that was Mr. Jeremy Fisher. The children enjoyed looking at Mr. Jeremy Fisher and discussing if he was big or small and what colour he is . When the children finished looking at Mr. Jeremy Fisher they set him free on the green. But Mr. Jeremy Fisher didn't hop away, he buried himself in the soil ! We then discussed why he buried himself and a child said " because the birds might get him" During the day the children listened to the stories of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck, Tom Kitten and Jeremy Fisher . They then did some paintings of the characters fro,m the stories they listened to . The children got to choose what characters they wanted to paint and were able to identify their colours . We then shown the paintings to the staff at Beatrix Potter head office. . We then received a lovely message from Beatrix Potter company . On Friday 6th July the children then dressed up as Peter Rabbit and did the actions to the song of Peter Rabbit has a fly upon his nose. |
