Some children wanted to dress as Lifeguards that we see on our beach in Brighton. They listened to Andy’s instructions of “wave you hand to get the lifeguards attention” The two lifeguards sprung into action to help the boy on the boogie board!

In March 2019 , the children had a visit from RNLI, which is based in Shoreham. A volunteer called Andy visited the nursery to talk about what RNLI do. The children got see Steve a knitted crew member which they passed round the group. The children got to see photos of the different boats that the lifeboat crew use. Children were able to identify what will happen if the boat capsizes, they were able to identify the special clothing the crew wear onboard the life boats and how to stay safe in the water.

During the visit the children got to try on the crew’s uniform that they wear, when saving people. They were able to identify the colours of the uniform and the equipment they use. The children passed around the welly boots that had RNLI on the side. One chid tried to put the welly boot on and realised it was too big for them.
Also the children got to try on a Lifeguards uniform as well and also they got to see the flag they use for beaches to make sure everyone knows when it is safe to use the sea. |
Before Andy had to leave to go back to the Shoreham Lifeboat Station a child handed over a miniature version of RNLI Lifeboat artwork to Andy . We would like to say a massive thank you to Andy from RNLI based in Shoreham for coming out today and teaching the children his job. We hope to see Andy or his team again soon |
