The children have enjoyed reading and learning about a rang-tan in my bedroom. The children asked lots of questions about why there was a orangutan in the bedroom, why diggers are cutting trees and what palm oil is. We discussed how the orangutan would feel that people are cutting tree's down. When asked a child said "it is not good to cut tree's down as orangutans live in them" We have been talking to the children about palm oil and what it is in. Some children said "food, shampoo, shoes , tops " We asked the chidlren what could we do to make sure orangutans are safe and happy and the children said " dont cut the trees" |
After the rang-tan in my bedroom story the children asked to paint pictures of the orangutan from the story and the little girl. Children use orange, brown and cream paint for the orangutan. Children then showed their versions of orangutans at carpet time.

Because the children really enjoyed looking at There's a Rang-tan in My Bedroom, the children with Demita looked at all the animals on WWF and chose a orangutan to sponsor . Three times in the year the children will be getting updates from WWF to see how the orangutans are getting on. Thank you to WWF for sending over a orangutan delivery, the children have enjoyed meeting olly the orangutan and looking at the photos that they sent. Before seeing Olly the children guessed what colour , what animal it is and where it could live. Some children guessed "a bear" "dinosaur" "lion" "monkey" |
