Visits from Sussex Police
At My First Friends Nursery we have been fortunate to have some visits from Brighton Police, who have helped during the summer holidays with some questions that we had. The children have loved seeing the officers that came into the nursery during August and September, this is to build and foster strong relationships in the community
In September when the police came for a quick visit the children made a canvas to say thank you as we appreciate their help they always give us and for being the best force. The children gave the officer a high five and discussed what they do at nursery and for the officer not to touch his hair!
Because of the help we received and how kind the officers are when we are out in the community by giving us a wave or putting the sirens on. The children made a Christmas art box for the Police force and a Christmas card so that the children could wish all the officers a Merry Christmas. Brighton Police have been doing visits in Brighton and in Hove so we did a spontaneous trip to see them so we could hand over the present for them.
When we arrived at Brighton Police Station the children met some officers and got to try on two different police hats. The children then handed over the artwork and were allowed to sit in the police car and hear the sirens.

In January 2019 the children were playing in the outside playground and had a surprise visit from Sussex Police. The children got to try on the police officer's hat and try on some uniform. The children then went out to see police car and hear the siren, two of the children took a look at the tow bar that was on the back of the police van Some of the children climbed into the back and children then took it in turns to sit in the front. One child enjoyed sitting in the front and pressing the button on the steering wheel to hear the horn. When it was time for the police to leave the children waved the police off to their next task.
In February 2019 the children visited Brighton Police HQ in Brighton. Before the visit the children made Brighton Police a valentines day artwork to show appreciation to them . Once it was dry the children then travelled by bus to hand deliver it. Children chose what fancy dress they want to wear and some chose a police officer and special constable
