Out in the community

At My First Friends Nursery we take our children out in the community. We make sure all children get to experience positive impressions of cultures and faiths and those of others in the surrounding community, by sharing and celebrating a range of practices and special events.  We also invite people from a range of cultural backgrounds to talk about aspects of their life's or the things they do in their work.

When visitors arrive at the nursery we do a nursery walk and talk through all our display boards reflecting the diversity and ethos of our nursery.

- The children visited the Brighton Memorial, to pay their respects to the veterans and those that died when serving our country. The children then got invited back to the mayors parlour.

- The children enjoy visiting the beach , walking along the beach, throwing pebbles and watching the waves come in. While walking on the beach the children have the freedom to express themselves through different ways of movement. ie jumping off of a boat.

- The children get to visit the i360, they get to see Brighton from a new height of 450 feet.  When we visit the i360 we talk about the size of buildings and the size of the people from being up high.  We even get to see the windmill in Westdene!

- The children got to visit the Sealife centre in Brighton. They got to see a diverse range of sea creatures.  One child was able to touch a starfish!
