The children have been learning about Finns Law all last year and were sending artwork to our local MP's , DEFRA , NO. 10 and to Giles York Chief Constable of Sussex Police . Sussex Police Chief Constable Giles York kindly allowed us to have a visit from Sussex and Surrey Police Dog Force. The children got to meet Jake a Cocker Spaniel and Cola the German Shepherd . PC Hewson asked the children how old they thought Jake and Cola was. The children took it in turns to stroke Jake . As the children were dressed for outside play, Pc Hewson showed the children how Jake and Cola worked. Pc Hewson hid resources round the playground for Jake and Cola to find. |

The children then went back inside to try on Pc Hewson's uniform. The children took it in turns to try on the handcuffs, a riot helmet, a police helmet and a riot shield. They then got to see a bite guard that Cola uses when training . A bite guard is similar of that to someones arm when they are running away from the Police
The children even decided to put the police helmet on Pc Hewton a couple of times , even putting it on backwards! We would like to thank PC Hewton for the fabulous visit , the children and staff absolutely loved the visit and learning all about what you , Jake and Cola do. We hope you and your lovely dogs stay safe when working. |
We would also like to thank everyone from Sussex Police Crimes Comissioner and Chief Constable Giles York for allowing us to have such a wonderful visit from Sussex and Surrey Police Dogs. This was one of the children's favourite visit and it was the best one for the nursery. |
