Secret Garden At Maycroft Manor
|
During the different seasons the children have been visiting Maycroft Manor's garden. Our children have collected conkers with residents, looking at the pond for frogs, and seeing their plot being built.
The children like exploring their garden to find any animals or insects for example, a squirrel picking conkers up. On the wooden posts the children have been identifying different type of birds or butterflies that is engraved on the wood. |
Princes Trust
At Maycroft Manor they had the Princes Trust in for a week to build a plot in their garden, the children got to meet the people that are building a plot. They saw a tomato growing from a plant and seeds that were sown into the mud. The children were asked by the people that take part in the Princes Trust to name the scare crow. So far the children have named the scare crow Dingle after the song I'm A Dingle Dangle Scarecrow |

Maycroft Manor's garden is big and the children like running through tunnels that is built there or running around the circle that has palm trees in the middle. Because Maycroft Manor is along the London Road the children like guessing what sounds they can hear for example, a ambulance siren. When the children walk through the gardens they like waving to the residents that are in the café, They also like spotting any changes in the garden for example, the colours of the leaves, why the leaves are falling on the ground and what statues they can see in the garden. When walking through the garden the children spotted a statue of a squirrel that was on a residents chair and another resident had a Christmas tree in her own section of the garden. .

The children are looking forward to visiting Maycroft Manor's garden again and hopefully will be able to grow something in their new plot with the residents.
